My pregnancy mood, my husband and the seer

I was lying on my bed last night, watching my Korean drama while waiting for my husband to come back.

I’d sent him out to buy me suya, and it was already midnight. Don’t blame me — that’s what the baby wanted.

Just when I was getting lost in the movie, my phone started ringing. I picked it up and saw Chioma calling.

I frowned. Why would Chioma be calling me this late?

Still, I shrugged and answered.

The moment the call connected, her anxious voice came through

" Lioness, where is your husband?”

“My husband? I sent him to buy me suya. What’s up?”

“Hmmm… by this time of the night?” she asked slowly.

“Yeah. That’s what I was craving.”

She sighed deeply. “Okay oh… but there’s something bothering me. I didn’t know if I should tell you, but my mind has been disturbing me to speak.”

“Chioma, tell me what’s wrong,” I yawned.

“I saw your husband entering a hotel with a dark-skinned lady. They were so intimate and…”

“Wait, Chioma! Did you say a dark lady? Not a fair one?” I cut her off, shocked.

“lioness , are you hearing me? I said—”

“So you’re telling me my husband cheated on me with a dark lady? And you saw them going into a hotel?” I interrupted again.

“Yes. I even took a picture.”

Ding! — she sent it.

I opened it, and yes, there was my husband holding a dark, fine girl tightly.

I frowned at the picture, mumbling to myself.

“So my husband lied when he said he only liked fair women… chai, men can lie! See as he’s holding her like national treasure.”

As I was still analyzing the picture, Chioma asked in a surprised tone:

“Lioness… are you mad that she’s dark, or that he cheated?”

I froze, realizing what I was saying.

“Cough, cough…” I cleared my throat. “But wait—Chioma, what were you doing in a hotel?”

Silence.

“Anyway, that’s not the issue. The issue is your husband, the same man you always call the ‘best hubby,’ is cheating on you,” she said finally.

I chuckled. “Okay, ma. I hear you. I’ll deal with him when he gets back. Oya, go and sleep, Madam Seer.” I hung up.

I was still fuming when my husband finally walked in with a black nylon. I almost jumped up in excitement for my suya, but quickly remembered I was supposed to be angry.

“Sugar, what’s wrong? I got the chicken suya you asked for,” he said, walking toward me.

I stopped him with my hand, glaring. “Babe… is it true you cheated on me?”

He froze, his face showing guilt.

“So you cheated with a dark lady, huh? Yet you told me you didn’t like them,” I said, narrowing my eyes.

He looked surprised. “Sugar, would you have preferred if she was fair?”

I rolled my eyes. “Yes! At least your crime would only be one. But now you cheated and lied.”

“Who told you I cheated?” he asked, folding his arms.

I didn’t answer. Instead, I let a few tears fall. “How can you do this to me when I’m carrying your baby?”

He just stared at me… then turned to leave the room.

I quickly wiped my tears and followed him. “Where’s my suya first?”

He raised his brows, then laughed. “Sugar, I thought you needed space to cry.”

“Oga, give me my suya.” I snatched the nylon, opened it, and confirmed it was exactly what I ordered — chicken suya.

“Now… where’s the yogurt?” I asked.

“But sugar, you didn’t ask for yogurt, and it’s already 1 a.m.”

I tilted my head and smiled sweetly — but with malice. “Babe, do you want us to talk about your dark side chic, or will you get me the yogurt?”

He sighed. “How many do you want?”

“As many as you can carry!” I called after him as he walked out.

I sat down and enjoyed my suya. It’s not that I’m not hurt — I am — but I know my peace of mind is more important. Whether he cheated or not, a man that wants to cheat will cheat. And as for me? I’ll protect my heart, keep my stress low… and nI was lying on my bed last night, watching my Korean drama while waiting for my husband to come back.
